History of the Vancouver Magic Circle Library
The library continued to be stored at the homes of various members until the club relocated to the Moberly Park
Community Hall in 1973. At this location it was possible to store the books on site giving member full access at each meeting.
In 1996, The Vancouver Magic Circle once again changed locations to it's present home, the Sunrise Community Hall.
Unfortunately no storage space was available, so the books were again kept in the homes of various members.
In 1998, Greg Dietlein was appointed club Librarian. The library is in four sections. The first included rare and
irreplaceable books and the second contains the more contemporary works. The third contains videos and CD's.
The fourth is comprised of assorted periodicals.
In 2006 Dennis Chan took over as librarian. The entire library is currently
on display at Dennis's home where it can be accessed throughout the year by members of the
Vancouver Magic Circle, The International Brotherhood Of Magicians and The Society Of American Magicians. The current
inventory consists of more than 1400 books, periodical and videos. The books date from the mid 1800's onwards.
There is an ongoing program to continue to expand the library. The library has already increase in size by more than 400
books this year alone. Many of these books have come to us by donation.
